This is a very good organic chemistry book in that it encourages the student to think in a rational, systematic manner, which is what the subject is all about. However, it does not come up with much new material.The problems are a bit outdated, and it is not a hard read.
This book by Rose and Alper is a great approach to organic chemistry. The concept is very simple, providing the student with a well-balanced picture of the subject. If you are not ready to study organic chemistry, or if you have to go back to organic chemistry, I think it is a fantastic book to start with.
Organic chemistry starts with getting the basics right. You can't tackle organic chemistry without knowing the theory of atoms, orbitals, and covalent bonds. I found this book to be an excellent primer, with both a solid foundation and a solid memory jogger. It would be a good supplement to Learning Organic Chemistry, Second Edition or Organic Chemistry, depending on your preference.
This is a great book to have if you want to study organic chemistry. It provides a lot of really basic information about each chapter that you'll find really useful, and a good read. Also, it is the only book that I found that explains the material at a clear and very accessible level. You will find yourself dedicating most of your time to learning that book until you are done with organic chemistry!
The Oxford Organic Chemistry at a Glance is a good introductory book for organic chemistry. Each chapter is about 250 pages, covering all the important topics inorganic and organic chemistry. It's an excellent read and it will give you a pretty good idea of the topics you'll have to learn at the beginning of the course.
